Haunted Dreams
When you are lying down to sleep
And shadows all around you creep
As skies give up the fading light
And darkness ushers in the night
As dreams begin to fill your head
While nestled in your warm, safe bed
Do you every think about
The poor, lost souls who do without
Does it ever make you sad
To think of those who never had
A bed so soft, a blanket warm
A coat or shirt that wasn't torn
A meal that really filled one up
Instead of just a meager cup
A steady job, a day at school
A future to look forward to
Sometimes as I lay safe and warm
These thoughts like bees above me swarm
I am so blessed, I must confess
I lack for little, more or less
Dear Lord, please help me when I wake
To help my brother for Your sake
Don't let me turn my head away
And save it for another day
If I these promises do keep
Tonight I'll sleep a dreamless sleep

When he awoke from blankness
