How to let an independent person know you want to help out

In life you can't survive alone. Everyone needs help every once and a while. So what happens when you find an Independent person struggling and you want to give them a hand? Everyone knows that a person who is independent is not going to accept any kind of help, in fact they may get offended if you try! So what could you do to tell someone you want to help if they're independent?

First you have to understand how they feel in relation to being independent. The reason they're independent and the reason they continue to be independent could have to do with their mental state. For instance, they could be independent because they don't want to feel weaker, or they may be independent because they feel a person should make it on their own. You need to know why when talking to them so that you can accurately gauge who they will react to what you say.

Most times, telling them you won't accept no for an answer will get them to accept your help. The feel that you're more important than what they're working toward so they allow you to give them a hand. This method, however, does not always work and without foreknowledge as to why they are so independent you might end up offending them instead.

The best way to tell someone you want to help is to just tell them, be sincere and honest. They may reject you the first time but if you keep trying to help then in time you will be allowed to help them at least a little. You may have to explain to them exactly why you feel they need your help. While you talk to them make sure to tell them that you aren't trying to offend and that you're only trying to help.

Even if you tried everything you could, they still may not allow you to help them and if that happens then just let them be for a while. Sometimes all they might need is a little time to think things through. Don't give up because attempting to help someone is an important soul strengthening exercise that we should all partake. Sometimes just the act of asking to help them will give them all the help they need.

An independent person knows how to survive on their own, so what you might think as in trouble may actually not be. You must always remember that these people are your friends and they deserve to attempt things on their own first.
