Poetry: Walking away

by Leigh Goessl

Created on: September 30, 2009

When something isn't working right
There comes a time you must choose
Stay in a bad situation or walk away
If you stay, chances are you'll lose

Inhale a deep breath and lift one foot forward
First step is a powerful one to take
Subsequent steps will come easier
With each step comes less of an ache

Walking away isn't an easy choice to make
Initial steps filled with fear and anguish
Hold your head high and reach forward
Alternative is falling into the depths of languish

Walking away is not the easy way out
It is often a difficult road to pick
Take each day one at a time
Emotions often will come flowing quick

Hang onto courage, strength and resolve
And in the end things will be okay
Even if you don't want to do it
Sometimes you just have to . . . walk away
