Poetry: What we've lost

by Mary Kathryn Burdick

Created on: September 30, 2009

Lost Without You ... Since the day you were born you've been a part of me. And forever and always you will always be. That's why when you moved away it left a gaping hole. Living without you here sure does take a toll. Your still an important part of me even after everything. Your absence still makes me hurt and sting. Even when you were in diapers I could see me in you. Our relationship is strong something rarely found in a few. Is it any wonder when you hurt, so do I? So many others not understanding still aks me why. You are part of my flesh, blood and bone. We couldn't be any closer if we were a clone. I carried you tucked inside my very own body. I took care of you since you were young and snotty. Even so far away I still fee we are connected. I still feel called to keep you safe and protected. I still carry you deep inside my heart. Where you will forever remain a vital part. Letting go as you have grown has been hard to say the least. Especially since I live on the West coast and you live on the East.
