Gourmet Mrs. Field's Cookies

Fill your cookie jar with yummy homemade cookies that taste suspiciously close to the delicious gourmet Mrs. Field's chocolate chip cookies that lure mall shoppers to the familiar red and white storefront. This recipe makes a large batch of delectable cookies that bake up moist and will stay fresh tasting for days when kept in an airtight container. Be sure to use a large bowl when preparing dough because this recipe will make a large batch of cookies - the perfect treat to make for that next bake sale, social gathering, picnic, or holiday cookie exchange.

2 cups butter

2 cups brown sugar

2 cups granulated sugar

4 eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla

4 cups flour

5 cups oatmeal, measured then powdered in the blender

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons baking powder

2 teaspoons baking soda

24 ounces chocolate chips

8 ounce Hershey chocolate bar, grated

3 cups chopped walnuts, if desired

Heat oven to 375 degrees

Cream together butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla using mixer.

In a separate bowl, mix flour, powdered oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.

Mix all contents from both bowls in a large bowl using a spatula or wooden spoon Add chocolate chips, grated Hershey chocolate bar, and walnuts (if desired). Mix well. Roll dough into golf ball-sized balls and place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet, flattening slightly using your hand or the bottom of a glass. Bake for approximately 6 minutes. Transfer cookies to rack and allow to cook before storing.

Makes approximately 122 cookies

Note: This dough freezes well so bake half now save the other half to satisfy your next Mrs. Field's Gourmet Cookie craving. Or make half and freeze them in a sealed container so they're ready when you need them.
