There can be no logical conclusions about life after death. To arrive at a conclusion, one must do research and find evidence on which to base their conclusion. There is no concrete scientific evidence about life after death. There is only anecdotal evidence. The fact that they all seem very similar could be called evidence. But you can't recreate it in a lab.
I grew up in the Catholic faith so an afterlife was a given. What it was or how you got there was always either vague or terrifying. But, I never doubted that there was something after we died.
As I grew older my faith changed in subtle ways. I left the Catholic church and became an Episcopalian. In my new church, I felt encouraged to read the bible and come to my own conclusions. I was supposed to use the brain God gave me. Shocking!
I used my God-given free will and studied God's word alone and in groups. I found a new and living faith in a very personal God. I knew then that there was an afterlife and it was a good thing. Even a great thing.
I have talked with people who have had near death experiences and they all talk about a tunnel and a bright light and feeling very peaceful. When I think of my own death, I think of the incredible moment when I see God face to face.
I choose to believe in a life after death. My choice is made freely from reading the Bible. I also read devotion's that are based on the Bible and which seek to strengthen one's faith. I learn from other people's stories and from my own life experiences. I know that God exists and that there is a place waiting for all of us.
I don't know the criteria for getting into heaven or being banished to hell. I don't need to. I have faith in God, Jesus Christ his only begotten son and the Holy Spirit. They will take care of me very much like my earthly father did.
There is no logic involved, no scientific proof or visible evidence. The part of us that seeks truth and wants proof has to be set aside. It's like when you go to a movie you have to suspend disbelief. Most movies don't always make sense or so my engineer husband tells me. I remind him that it's a movie.
I'm not comparing movies to faith in God but trying to explain the unexplainable. You could even say call it the illogical.
