Henry the VIII was not necessarily known as the most fastidious king around, but he certainly wasn't as gruesome as people make him out to be, especially for the time period. Most kings believed they had power, and used this aforementioned power to take hold of others and do what they please, he was not the only one. But since he is a prominent historical figure, his tortures and somewhat evil standpoint have been key in the history of Europe and he is in many popular subjects regarding the topic.
Henry's reign spanned over 1509 through 1547, he was the predecessor to Henry the VII. During his early reign he wasn't as well rounded and edged out yet. He caved in to many people's demands and basically was shown the ropes through the court. He didn't implement the workings of torture until his later years. But to us now, it may seem like he was already hard edge, since he two nobles arrested right after his coronation. This in fact was very light for the time, and they didn't think Henry himself was capable of killing off people such as his predecessors.
But the young king seem to have fooled the courts men, in 1510 the two arrested nobles were tried for treason and executed. Although he was quite not as conflicted and severe with his mistresses, he did send them away far off in the country or out of England whenever they produced a bastard would be heir.
Although he was most distressed about his queens not giving him a male heir. After marrying Anne Boleyn, he wished for the best for her to bare his male children, since he admired her greatly. He started to demise her constant temper and how she gave birth to a daughter, Elizabeth. As Henry became strictly protestant he started numbering off each monk and religious figure near his beck and call. One of them being Sir Thomas More, who was once close to the king.
Resisters were always trial and executed without a thought, the Church of the Protestant showed no remorse to those who were against the king in any shape or form. When Henry became gravely injured during a horse ride, Anne was in such shock that she miscarried her child, it was supposedly male. The king could not withstand another miscarriage that had happened in 1536, two years after the first. He proclaimed it as witchcraft and how he was unfit to be with the queen.
Anne was convicted of adultery, incest and treason, some of which documenters have stated have been a false report of the king out of his anguish. She was executed on May 19th 1536.The number of executions that Henry had gone through has been lost in history, but his reign will forever be remember as a bloody one.
