Did man cause global warming?

Especially over the last decade or so, global warming has become a major issue where many scientists and environmentalist are concerned. The basic concept of global warming is that greenhouse gasses such as carbon dioxide and methane trap the suns heat and warm the earth. That's proven science. The problem is that when there is 'more' heat trapping gas in the atmosphere it's going to trap 'more' heat. That's basic physics.

A lot of people spend an incredible amount of time trying to disprove that which the world's leading scientists have determined to be a theory. We will get back to that word theory in a few moments. Remember that chart that Mr. Gore uses in his slide show, the one that shows the carbon dioxide level in the atmosphere for the past six hundred thousand years as measured by scientists studying ice cores?

That hasn't been disproven and looking at the graph the carbon jumps up with the temperature, not completely in sync, but it does follow. So there's that simple rule of physics, the more heat trapping gas in the air, the more heat is trapped.

But as good climate science has continued to show, global warming is indeed a reality, and we have indeed caused the problem that it is today. True, warming and cooling is cyclical in the fact that there are short term trends that happen from time to time. And a lot of people will point to that, the little ice age and other such past events to try and disprove global warming caused by humans.

Did such events happen? Of course they did. But do they prove that the global warming trend we see today is natural? No they do not. What is failed to be acknowledged, really, is the fact that we as a race have changed how we do things. Technology has drastically changed over the past hundred years, and that technology has proven pollution problems! Their byproducts pollute the land and water so that we have to watch what we eat and drink.

Another fact that has to be considered is that there is a normal carbon dioxide level in the atmosphere of about 250 to just under 300 parts per million, or PPM. We are currently sitting at 385.92, even higher then it was when an inconvenient truth was filmed! That is something that is indisputable. The data there is solid!

Another idea that has been noted in other arenas is the planet is so big that it is not possible for us to affect it in any way, and also that it's arrogant to think that we could possibly affect the planet adversely. Let's look at this for a moment. Fact: the
