There may come a time in everyone's life when they decide to leave the company in which they work for. This choice may be for many reasons but, whatever the reason is, you can leave your current employer without burning bridges or having hard feelings about the fact that you are leaving.
Notice is key. No company wants to be left on the rocks. There has to be careful planning in order to have an experienced person's job filled. By giving a decent notice, you are showing a great work ethic and giving ample time for the company to find someone else. Nothing makes a boss happier than to have a little notice as to an employee's intentions to leave. Giving a notice can also benefit the future of the employee that submits one. If for any reason a previous employee found themselves needing a job in the future, a company would be much more likely to consider their rehire if they had given a notice before.
Another thing that would leave behind a good impression is that, even though you knew you were leaving, that the quality of your work while you were still there did not change. Putting forth the same effort and pride in your work is very important to a company. While you are there and still on the payroll, you are still considered an employee of the company. Keeping your performance at the same level will show that you are an employee to be valued. This is an impression that will stay and be carried on to any future jobs that you have.
A good attitude is also a very important attribute when leaving a job. There are always people in which you wish you could say this or that to before leaving, but in truth, it is better for you as an employee and person to maintain professionalism at all times. It may be hard sometimes to do so but it will be beneficial to you and the way you are perceived by the company you are leaving. Being positive about the company you are leaving is a great way to leave them happy. Trashing them or the way they do things can only lead to negative feelings. Be positive about your previous job choice and be positive about your future. Respect the fact that you must be replaced. You can leave them happy.
