Success on your New Year's Resolution is just an article away. This article contains the basic tips you need to succeed in your New Year's Resolution and accomplish your goals this year.
PLAN FOR THE LONG HAUL
What ever goals you set for your New Year's resolutions, try to set them as long term goals and not short term goals. Consider goals that you will achieve over the course of the entire season - and even into the next year. Many changes will take time and patience to achieve. Lasting changes will generally not occur in a short time. Set you long term goals then break those goals down into shorter more manageable parts that you can do month by month or season by season. If saving money is your goal, try saving money on your electric bill. Accomplish this goal one small step at a time by changing your thermostat by one degree at a time. A month or two later consider two degrees after you have adjusted to the degree change. Gradually over time add new money saving tips starting with small tiny changes and work into larger ones. People can fail at New Year's Resolutions because the goals they choose are simply too large and they want the change too fast.
CONSIDER YOUR SCHEDULE
When planning the family schedule, consider your life as well. How can you fit things it that you want to do while running the kids around to soccer games, ballet lessons. and scouts. Where will you find time for you? If you want to make and keep New Year's resolutions you will need to make time in your schedule for these. If your New Year's resolution is to lose weight, when will you go to the gym? If your New Year's resolution is to quit smoking then how will you do this in a schedule so cramped you can not breathe? When making the season schedule give thought to the life changes that you want to make and fit them in to your life along with the kids activities. People frequently fail at New Year's Resolutions because the goals they choose are simply not feasible in their current schedules.
THINK 'THE SEASON' OVER AGAIN
Football teams, ballet companies, and many agencies plan their goals around what they call 'the season'. When planning your New Year's Resolution consider 'the season' in which you are facing the sudden changes. Starting changes in January when you are already committed to events and schedules may be a poor choice in timing to alter life long habits. Perhaps you will want to consider August or September as the start
