The mall is relatively quiet with the exception of one store. The video game store is packed because today is the release date of UFC Undisputed. I have been playing the demo consistently for several weeks now. I have now mastered, or so I thought, Shogun Rua and Chuck Liddel as they were the two fighters provided in the demo. Of course the demo only provides the one exhibition bout so I have been chomping at the bit to play the full version. Today is that day.
I rush home and place the disk into my chosen gaming console and am giddy with delight. I am finally going to get to beat people up with other pixelated fighters. Here we go.
The first video plays depicting several well known fighters fighting in classic fights. The fighters are looking pretty slick so far. The first thing I do is again go to the exhibition mode and fight but with different fighters. I play as Forrest Griffin and fight Stephan Bonnar, recreating the Ultimate FIghter 1 Finale. I flash knock out Bonnar. After my initial fight fix, I create a fighter, of course with me being the fighter. Now here is the first issue I have, although I did not notice this right away. The create a fighter option is very basic. After playing other games with create a player options, this is very weak. So I continue to create a fighter and am able to use him in exhibition mode.
Now I move onto career mode. The first thing I notice, I am unable to use the fighter I have just created. Second thing, I can not use already made fighters. This is somewhat a disappointment. That being said, I heroriclly plod on and create yet another fighter, once again with limited visual options. Now in career mode, your stats are very low. You get to choose a striking style and a ground fighting style. There are three options for both. Striking has Boxing, Kickboxing and Muay Thai, ground provides the options of Judo, Wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I choose Kickboxing and Jui-Jitsu and choose my stats and am on my way. After the fighter is created, we get to be front row centre for Dana White and his "Do you want to be a fighter speech". We get to fight on the Ultimate Fighter. Of course because you are a rookie, you are very slow and very weak so this takes some getting used to. After defeating my first opponent, I have the option of going to the career tutorial, which I skip and start to play with the options given.
After my first fight, I get to choose my next fight, which is seemingly a created computer character
