Our Daily Routine
Every day my pit bull and I go for a walk/jog. I use the slash mark because we walk about half of the time and jog the other half. The total round-trip distance that we walk/jog is about 0.9 miles. This measurement is according to my car's odometer when I drove our route in our subdivision in Douglasville, GA.
Our routine begins about 7 a.m., we get up and have our breakfast, then go back to sleep. When we wake up the second time, sometimes I piddle around a bit and waste a little time, but that's neither here nor there. I get up and head to the bathroom to brush my teeth and put in my contacts. The last thing I need on a walk/jog is the inability to see one or many potential snacks for Honey Bunny. Honey Bunny is my pit bull's name. Sometimes I go ahead and put my hair back and other times I get my outfit and go back into the bedroom to dress. I grab my Access bar and eat it in approximately four bites. It's a chocolate caramel kruncher bar that is the first and only patented fat conversion activity bar for enhanced workouts and reduced body fat, according to the package.
After I've dressed I have to go into another room to my closet and get my socks and Skechers D'Lites. I live in what is called a 'bonus' room, and there isn't a real closet in there. I forgot to mention that when I come back into the bedroom with my outfit, Honey Bunny knows it's time for our walk/jog and starts a sort of dance and sometimes even adds some whine.
I guess I should go ahead and confess to my constant one-sided conversations with Honey Bunny. I carry on like she is a person and wonder if one day she'll actually respond in human speak.
We're just about ready to head out; I must do my own 'business' first (and that's all the detail you're going to get on that subject)! I can't forget to apply the SoftLips to my slightly chapped lips and either Cetaphil or Renew to my hands. It's quite funny to watch me try to open a poop bag with un-lotioned hands.
We go out of my room and down the stairs on a path towards the door. About seven feet from the door is a dining table and chairs, one chair of which I hang my fanny pack and Honey Bunny's Buddy Leash. The Buddy Leash is a leash that goes around my waist and attaches to another piece of nylon-type leash material that then attaches to a dog's collar. Honey Bunny wears the prong collar on our walk/jogs. She is a very strong girl, and weighs about 67 pounds. I on-the-other hand weigh about 97 pounds and if a tug-of-war broke out, I have to admit that I would lose no question about it. When she decides to chase, I must either be ready to chase too, or use all of my strength to plant myself firmly in place to avoid being dragged.
In my fanny pack I keep Kleenex tissues, poop bags, and a citronella spray (that looks like mace, but is for animals). Finally, it's time to go out. Unlock the deadbolt and knob and unlock the glass storm door to reach the fresh air.
