Having had an abortion, I have been harrassed. Why did I go through with it? Because I was too young. Some people disagree with my choice, but don't really care, and other people call me a murderer. Heres why I support abortion, from my experience...

The pregnancy was unintentional.

I was young, probably too young to be having intercourse, when I met someone who I thought cared about me. I had no job, was still in high school, and lived in a low-income family. I was on Depo at the time, and while I hated it, I believed it would keep me from getting pregnant. I was WRONG. The guy in question, who shall remain nameless, decided that he wanted me to remain his little homemaker girlfriend, and then poked holes in the condoms we were using. After I realized what had happened, he told me I wasn't worth his time.

I had the abortion less than a month later. I went for the safer way, the pills. It cost a little extra, but I knew that one day I would want children of my own, and that I couldn't support this child as it was. I was young enough to earn an 85% chance of complications during birth, and I knew that I didn't want to waste my life, or my childs life, on something that wouldn't come to pass anyway. I wouldn't want to bring the child into a life where they didn't have enough food to eat, where they didn't have good clothing to wear, or where they didn't have a roof over their head.

I know the alternatives. I know that some people think my choice was wrong. As I walked into the clinic, I walked through a protest. I was yelled at, kicked, spit upon, and in the end, security had to walk me through. I know that everyone has their own ideas, on what is right and wrong, but what makes me such a bad person, that I would spare a child from a life of hell?
