Healthy skin is attainable; it promotes wellbeing and health to oneself in general. When our skin looks beautiful and healthy, we are happy. Our skin is our largest organ, so we need to take good care of it. Here are some tips on how to achieve beautiful healthy skin.
Cleansing
We need to bathe everyday in order to remove body odours, sweat and dirt that build upon us during the day. Using soap can be harsh to skin and usually dries it out, so I'd recommend using a moisturising shower cream or gel to cleanse.
Exfoliating
Your skin sheds skin cells everyday and over time these make your skin look dull. Exfoliating using a scrub removes all the dead skin cells on your skin and reveals brighter, smoother and glowing skin.
Dry Body Brushing
This is a best kept secret, dry body brushing before a bath or shower takes only two minutes and has great benefits. Starting from the balls of your feet and moving in upwards strokes towards your heart it takes toxins to the lymph nodes in our body which will then get rid of them. It will also aid in getting rid of cellulite, and in getting soft skin and improving your circulation.
Moisturising
Our skin needs moisture to provide elasticity for the body and will help keep your skin looking softer, revitalised, healthy and younger. Moisturisers such as Vitamin E and Cocoa butter have a wide-known reputation in moisturising the skin and helping to get of marks and scars.
Facial Regime
Caring for our body does not mean neglecting our faces. A good facial regime will consist of a cleanser, a toner, moisturiser, protector. Depending on your skin type you will need to use products that are suitable for your skin type.
Cleanse your face in the morning and in the night using circular motions. Use a toner after to get rid of any cleanser left behind and to tighten the pores. Follow up in the morning with a moisturiser preferably with SPF to protect you from the sun's rays and to help you looking younger. In the night follow up with a night cream that will moisturise the skin and heal it ready for your next day.
Sun Protection
The sun's rays are very harmful to the skin; they age the skin prematurely and can cause skin cancer. So it is best to use protection everyday anywhere you live in any condition, because the sun's rays are always there. A minimum of SPF 15 should be applied everyday in order to protect your skin.
Water
Our body replaces its water every 6 weeks, so we need to drink enough of it to keep our skin healthy.
