Without website traffic it is not be possible to earn online, but advertising revenue is not always directly proportional to the amount of website traffic, it depends more upon the type of visitor attracted to the website or blog.
Rather than buying traffic or using sites that pay people to visit, it is far better to attract people to a website. Higher online advertising revenue will be generated by visitors who are genuinely interested in what is featured, and what they see advertised, when they visit a page found by searching online.
Website traffic generated by traffic exchanges or purchased through a click site will have a relatively small percentage of visitors who are actually interested in what is on pages they are forced to view. Most visitors will not click on the ads when using a traffic exchange or paid-to-click program, as they join these only to serve their own interest and generate their own online earnings.
The way to increase advertising revenue to aim for those visitors with a real interest in what is being advertised. That means getting more traffic from search results, using effective SEO (search engine optimization) techniques. When pages on a website or blog contain the same words being used in searches, traffic generated by the search engines will produce more advertising revenue. When Internet users find the information they seek, they see ads that are also relevant to their search, so are more likely to click on links in those ads, and increase the amount of advertising revenue.
Original quality web content is the key to getting a higher proportion of target traffic to a website, and for generating more advertising revenue. Web content should be rich in relevant keywords, but not stuffed too full of the same words and phrases. Text needs to be well written and informative, or the ads will proabably be ignored as visitors quickly leave the site.
Adding regular fresh content will help a website or blog to gain a higher page rank at Google, and get it to show up in more search results. More new content will also encourage visitors to subscribe and revisit a website, where they can view what is new and help to increase advertising revenue.
Some advertising revenue is earned by the number of banner impressions on the website, so of course it is then directly proportional to the amount of traffic, but revenue will again be increased by adding new content and getting more visitors who are interested in exploring the site and accessing pages where banners appear.
It is important to attract visitors who are actively seeking the type of information provided by the blog or website. With a higher proportion of target visitors viewing a webpage, there is a better chances of more people viewing ads and clicking links to find out more about what is being advertised. Visitors who are not genuinely interested in what is on a page will not click on ad links or banners.
