Competition has always been a great motivator for me. The challenge is much like an adrenalin surge. Are you motivated to finish that writing assignment? If no, then ask yourself , "Have you lost sight of your goals and do you still recognize the reward? The reward is always challenging the challenge. Stepping up to the plate. Always remind yourself ,"You can't win if you don't play". Does that slogan sound familiar to you? It should. Each time, I enter a contest , I visualize myself wining to start my engine of motivation. I feel revved up with my very first paragraph that reads coherently and cohesively. Keep in mind, it is within reach. You're in it to win it! Slogans, such as this, repeated in your thoughts will help in the motivation process. Flowing with your positive train of thoughts is a great motivator. Negate any opposition to your positivity off your train. In other words , kick them off the train. Visualization works wonder. You're a writer, use that imagination and bend it like Beckham. Now imagine that!
The first paragraph is important to set the tone and engage the reader. Are you anxious to answer the questions that keep popping up in your head. Then, it is working! Don't waste time, by looking over your shoulder. Stay focused and look ahead to winning. keep the thoughts coming. How will you feel when you cross the finish line? pace yourself with a few more anecdotes. Motivation is just beneath the surface of winning that writing contest. You may have sized up your competition, but don't worry, because you are a worthy opponent.
I have never won a writing contest. What would make me think I could win this writing contest? Could it be, I'm motivated to do so? Motivation is not the same as arrogance or cockiness. To the contrary, it's a feeling of giving it all you have and not being fearful of rejection. Don't we all love to cheer on the under dog. It always seems as though they give it , there all.
Once you have that spirit of motivation. You may have won already, because you now have the sense of accomplishment. Getting started with any endeavor is the biggest hurdle. Once you get that momentum, that blast off,use that thrust to propel you even further. Evey professional sport has it's fans. Just consider , you may have to be your own biggest fan. Don't be shy. Every one needs fuel for high performance. Motivation is our fuel and it is green house friendly. There will be no carbon emissions in the air. May be confetti and balloons would suffice. There I , go again, looking forward. That's a by-product of motivation
