Reflections: Wisdom learned from nature

The wisdom God shared with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden is still with us today. Where ever you're from God has things in your life that can be a source of inspiration. Some times you just have to know where to look. Jesus says in Matthew "...consider the flowers of the field they don't toil or spin yet Soloman in all of his glory was not dressed as well as one of these." We have only too look around us to see the truth in Christ's words.

Ants are funny little creatures, they are so small but they seem to be able to survive anywhere. It does not matter where you live your sure to find ants. When you are watching them it is amazing to see how much they are like humans yet how much could we still learn from the ant. Each ant has its job the scout who goes into every nook and cranny looking for a possible meal. Leaving a scent trail that lets the rest of the colony know what she has found and what she has not. That's right boys and girls most ants are female. Then you have the worker ant's who once the food is found follow the path laid out by the scout and work one piece at a time yet can consume something 100 times their size in a matter of hours or in some cases minutes! Then you have the solder ants that are the biggest yet they often have a different role. They many times will do what ever it takes to help the workers do their job uninterrupted. The solders will do everything from sentry duty and fighting enemies to cutting apart bigger pieces of food and sometimes acting as a living bridge! Inside the anthill is a whole different set of jobs, from nurses to construction. Then last but not least the leadership the great egg laying queen and the drones (the males in many colonies) that provide the next generation of ants. When a queen ant leaves her colony the ants that don't follow her loose all their coordination with the rest of the colony and die. Literally the queen is the life of the colony, yet with out the colony she would starve because she is unable to forage for food by herself.

Each and every ant has an important job to do but each one would be nothing without the whole colony. What a great example God created for us in that just like ants, the day can have as much purpose as we put into it. If you are watching the ant at work that ant can also be a reminder of how important people are to Him in the big picture and that each one of us has a great work to do no matter how mundane things may seem each thing we do affects each other.
