As I meditate and reflect on prayer, for me it is the answer to everything in my life. It is the key to my joy and peace, problems and fears, finances and health. For everything I need answers, guidance, or just to chat with my Father, prayer is what I focus in on. It is the time when I talk to God and He talks to me. There are times that I don't even talk, but just sit in His presence for His comfort and reassurance. There are time when I pray for others. Problems they may have or insight that they may need for their lives. Perhaps they've lost a loved one or had some catastrophe in their life and they need the prayers of the saints to intercede for them.
God loves when we pray to Him. He wants us to commune with Him. To share our hearts with Him because He wants to share His with us! He loves His people and wants to have intimacy with Him. The whole world would be different if everyone prayed. He says in the Bible, "If my people who are called by name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place (2 Chron. 7:14&15, NIV)
So He is telling us very clearly that He would open His eyes and ears to see and hear whatever needs we have....if we all pray. That no matter what it is, He would take care of it. But all of His people do not care to pray to Him for whatever reasons. Some of them doubt His existence. Some have other gods such as money, material things, their addictions, other gods. Still others are rebellious to God and think they don't need Him. That they are just fine without Him. Those are the others that believers pray for. "Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be found, surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach him. (Ps. 32:6, NIV)
Jesus prayed to his Father about everything. He prayed to Him for strength and direction in his own life and he unselfishly prayed for the people all the time. That God have mercy upon them, and not unleash His anger and judgment upon them "Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing." (Lu 23:34, NIV) It was because of his death, that we can now go to God freely. We are no longer required to bring sacrifices for our sins before we can pray. Jesus was the ultimate blood sacrifice and through him , we now have a direct line to God in prayer! And he still intercedes for us at the right hand of the Father! What a love!
It is a privilege that I sometimes slack in, but cannot live my life without!
