This is a very good old Denver Restaurant that has been around and at the same address for 58 years. Club 404 is at 404 S Broadway and I can remember eating at Club 404 50 years ago when my brother and I would come to Denver from Western Nebraska with our parents. It was a good restaurant then and it still is. They serve Mexican and American food and all of it is good.
The appetizers are good and are priced like most other restaurants. I like their platter of chili cheese fries which are real good tasting and real bad for you. Isn't that the way it always goes. It is $6.95 They make their own potato chips and they are good at $3.95. The Zing wings are very tasty and can be very hot or mild and are $7.95. As for soups, they have red chili, green chili, French onion, homemade chicken noodle and Buffalo Stew. I like both the French Onion and the Buffalo stew. They are $4.50 a cup or $6.95 a bowl.
Their house salad makes a good meal for us diabetics and believe me it is a big salad. It has romaine lettuce, 2 different cheeses, black olives, boiled egg, red onions, sliced mushrooms, cucumbers, tomato wedges, croutons and garlic bread plus they have really good blue cheese dressing. This salad is $7.95
Their Mexican Fare is very good and has all the normal things. Flautas, Burritos, Chili Rellenos, Fajitas, Enchiladas, Tamales, plus many good combination plate. The only thing I have had recently is the Chili Rellenos and they are very good. and are $9.75
They have a very extensive sandwich menu. They have 13 in all. Their Reuben is good and they are one of the few places you can still get an open-faced hot beef and hot turkey sandwiches. Their sandwiches run from $6,95 for a BLT to $10.95 for a prime rib sandwich. They have 9 different burgers which are all 1/2 pound except for the double burger. The Blue Max is my favorite at $8.95. They don't cheat you on the blue cheese crumbles either.
Their 16 oz T Bone is as good as any t-bone anywhere. Their Chicken Fried Steak at $11.95 is very good too. Probably my two favorites things on the menu are the Cajun Deep Fried Catfish at $!3.95 and the grilled Walleye Pike at $14.95. They have god ribs and chicken also. They have good fried chicken and their Angus Corned Beef and Cabbage is good.
They have 12 different beers on tap plus a full bar and all the normal tea, coffee, juice, sodas and hot chocolate. Their dessert vary from day to day so you need to ask your server what the dessert of the day is
Club 404 has been at the same 404 S Broadway location since 1951. They don't take checks but take most credit card and Cash. When you are in Denver and want some good food, check out Club 404.
