The porch light is on and I feel it welcoming me inside.
Another wasted night with wasted people in an all night dive.
All looking for a shelter in the rain.
As I smile and laugh no one can see my pain.
The night was cruel and I needed some extra fuel.
As I wash my life away down a side street drain.
The rain beats on my neck reminding me I have no one waiting home for me .
Just the comfort of the glow from a single bulb.
Tomorrow is a new day as long as that porch light stays on.
So hang on. You may be lonely but you are never alone.
I leave my mind and stay behind the dark door with the monster inside.
The days grow short and my face is lined.
I torture my soul with evil men and I drink stolen wine.
Each day I awake in demented surprise still wasting what really isn't mine.
Tomorrow is a new day as long as that porch light stays on.
So hang on , You may be lonely butt you are never alone.
My life is not over I will survive.
I don't know how and don't know why.
A life would mix with mine and save it.
I never deserved the light that brought me home.
I know now I am never alone.
Tomorrow is a new day as long as that porch light stays on.
So hang on, You may be lonely but you are never alone.
