After the dark gloom of night,
The new morning's pale light,
Illumines a still dark and cool gray sky.
Morning has finally come,
And the bright rays of the sun
Stream through fog from the river nearby.
Piercing the mist to the ground,
With shafts of light all around,
Signaling life to prepare for a new day.
I sit on the edge of my bed,
Trying to clear the fog in my head,
While my mind and thoughts are in disarray.
"All will be well I suppose"
I thought, as I carefully arose,
And made my way haltingly down the hall,
Anticipating the caffeine stimulant,
To the kitchen I slowly went,
For the coffee of which I am in thrall.
Just a few minutes hence,
And I'll be able to dispense,
That hot, tasty, eye opening drink.
It will help bolster me up,
As I enjoy that first cup,
And I will once again be able to think.
No more addleness of brain,
My mind is clear once again,
For the coffee keeps the mind-fog at bay.
Yes, the morning has come,
With its bright rays of sun,
And I'm totally prepared for the new day.
