How to pass the time on a long flight

How to pass the time on a long flight is a conundrum which tens of thousands of people have to contend with every single day. The feelings of boredom, claustrophobia, or even anticipation of reaching one's destination, can become quite overwhelming if a distraction is not found to pass the time on a long flight.

When considering how to pass the time on a long flight, there are two important factors which have to be taken in to account. It is important that the method of passing the time be sufficient to take up one's attention and provide the longed for distraction but it is also imperative that one consider the comfort of other passengers on the flight. This means that such as noisy, hand-held game devices are an absolute non-starter.

One of the most common ways to pass the time on a long flight is to read a book or a magazine. In this respect, it is best to have plenty of reading material available - especially if one happens to be a fast reader - as finishing the book or magazine with perhaps two or more hours of the flight to go could be frustrating. Many airlines, though, do have in-flight magazines available and some of the features can be quite entertaining.

If the flight has movies available, this is another way to pass the time. Technology is improving all the time in this respect and as it does so a wider choice of what can be watched is likely to become available.

Sleeping is another way to pass the time on a long flight. There are many people who say that they can not sleep when travelling but if one ensures one is tired enough, the chances are that sleep will come. This is perhaps not a good idea, however, for anyone who knows they have a pronounced snoring problem, if they wish to retain the good will of fellow travellers!

Crossword puzzles or sudoku represent a good way to pass the time on a long flight because they require so much concentration that the time is likely to pass more quickly. These puzzles are not to everyone's taste but there are many books to buy which have a variety of different types of puzzle to introduce variety in to the concept.

The final thing to remember when considering how to pass the time on a long flight is to get up and walk around every so often, where flying conditions permit. This reduces the likelihood of any medical issues developing and is always yet another way to successfully pass the time.
