How to deal with rude customers?

*Dealing with rude customers:

It can be hard at times to deal with rude customers, and it is my belief, the best way to handle someone who is being rude is to be as kind and nice to them as you can be but speak your opinion in a firm business manner. This catches them off guard and causes them to stop and think before they say another rude thing to you. In my opinion, rude people have a problem to begin with in their lives and they are people who are totally unhappy.

People who are rude are suffering from a lack of security, lack of self-esteem, lack of self-confidence, and they feel they have to come on strong and rude to get the proper attention from other people. This type of rudeness feeds their ego and gives them a feeling of self-worth. What they are truly looking for is to make the person assisting them feel they have them under their control, and by being rude to them, it will frighten them and make them do whatever they want them to do. Haven't you ever noticed a rude person, they start out their conversation immediately with a frown on their face and in an rude manner and you've never said a thing to them. A rude person is a very insecure person and they've been put down a lot of times in their life and they've never had a sense of feeling secure.

*Rude customers can cause problems:

Rude people can cause a lot of problems regardless of how nice you threat them because they'll report you to a manager that you mistreated them or you didn't assist them in a good manner. Do you know why they do this? They do it to get the attention they need to hoist their egos to the hilt. They like getting this sort of attention and to feel they're important in life. I've always felt bullies and rude people are the most insecure people in the world.

*Ways to handle a rude customer:

The best way to handle a bully or a rude person is to be nice to them but to let them know they are not going to keep you from speaking your mind and your opinion. Let them be rude, but stand up for yourself, and you can do this by being nice and friendly but in a soft business tone. People need to know you are going to treat them nice but you are not going to allow them to mistreat you either. You can be firm and outspoken (in a nice manner) to get your point across to them. Once they know you are not going to allow them to keep you from responding in a business manner, and getting your point across to them, they will more than likely change their mannerisms toward you.

Rude people must know you're going to speak your feelings in a kind manner regardless of what they do or how rude they get with you. Don't ever allow a bully or a rude person to feel they have a hold on you or they'll beat you down really quick...stand up and speak out as long as it's in a business manner.
