You can love someone without it being in a romantic way. I truly love my friends, but I could never imagine kissing, or holding hands with any of them. The love I have for them is different. I love how they brighten my day, how they are there for me when I need them, how they can be brutally honest and get my head out of the clouds. I love how we can say anything to each other and know that we'll be friends in the morning. Depending on how close you are as friends can determine how much you will 'love' each other. With some of my friends we are like family. We are always fighting, arguing then making up. It's how any kind of relationship goes. Friend as defined in the dictionary says," a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard" Love is just described as a deeper connection, but it is completely attainable in a friendship.
To see the love I'm talking about you must first separate friends from acquaintances. Friends know about you and you know about them, you appreciate a friends company. Whereas with acquaintances often little to nothing is really known about each other and while company can be appreciated it is not nearly as enjoyable.
Whoever came up with the idea that lovers can't be best friends, isn't that what you would want in a partner? Love does not equal sex. It is a deep commitment and compassion for someone really it is undefinable. However, for a relationship to last you need that bond, that personal regard. Love is many things and can be found in many places. Every time I see one of my friends I see love. The two go together.
