Poetry: Heart's desire

by Heather Craig

Created on: September 25, 2009

I found him.
I found him.
She yelped.
I found my husband.
He's here, Mama,
and he's perfect,
and he loves me.
~ ~

He's my prince.
He's told me.
and he's going to rescue me,
He'll take me
away
to where I wish to be.
And I'm only longing
for him
because I'm his princess.
~ ~

We are going to far gone
places.
The places only my dreams have taken me.

*

But the sun is setting,
my dear child.
When is it he shall arrive?
To take away my baby girl?
He's not here.
He's not coming.
~ ~

Dream.
Dream until you pass.
Your prince will not
remove you from here.
You are not his princess.
And he has told you wrong.
~ ~

Dream until you pass,
dear child,
for when is it he shall arrive?
~ ~
~ ~

Look, Mama.
He came.

He's arrived.
