Questioning the necessity of vaccinations in the US

Vaccination mandates in this country has gotten out of hand. It has done nothing to better the health of American citizens with the exception of the polio vaccine. We now vaccinate young children against routine childhood diseases only to have them get those diseases when they are older. A toddler with chicken pox or measles are miserable for awhile but an older child or adult that is struck with the disease often have life-threatening cosequences or require hospitalization. The pianist at our college who is in his late 20s got chicken pox during the summer and was quite ill. He was vaccinated as a child as were most of his generation and he was never exposed to it at a young age. He was exposed to the virus because someone had shingles, not some unvaccinated child. Once a person has chicken pox it remains in the body and can erupt along any nerve path causing severe pain, itching and discomfort. The watery blisters that erupt along the nerve path are full of the chicken pox virus.

Another vaccine that has caused more harm than good is the Hepatitis B. This is a sexually transmitted disease but the vaccinations are given not to i.v. drug users, prostitutes or those who practice high-risk sexual activities. Instead neonates (newborns) are given their first of three doses before turning a day old. This vaccine has been linked to an increase in male lupus, an autoimmune disease that is before these vaccinations, occured only 2% of the time in this population. It often causes loss of kidney function and tends to hit males harder, often resulting in an early death. It has also been linked to an increase in type 1 (insulin dependent) diabetes in children under 5. Though pundits try and blame it on childhood obesity, a massive inoculation of the the New Zealand military with the Hep 3 vaccine resulted in so many becoming insulin dependent the program was stopped.

A spate of meningitis incidents among young college students was traced to the first batch of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccines. Again when acquiring the 3 so-called child hood diseases at a young age allowed children to come through unscathed, the vaccine had fatal consequences for older children.

Vaccinations are not safe for everyone and parents should have the option of letting nature take its course. The interesting thing about some of these outbreaks is that they occur in vaccinated populations bringing into question the validity of herd innoculations as a way to keep these diseases at bay.
