Air travel: Tips for packing a carry-on luggage

Some people seem to carry a lot; others are taking only a small bag to the plane. The first and most important thing is to check the rules of the airline you traveling with on carry on luggage before you travelling. The size could vary as well as the amount and weight in different airlines. Some companies who are offering cheap tickets have very strict rules on luggage, you can only take one piece on board.

If you are going somewhere for a weekend, or for only a few days you might want to take only a carry on luggage. In this case you have to pack very carefully, leaving all the items at home that you can't take on board. Take only the necessary clothes, your travel documents, some snacks. You can only take limited liquid on board, these has to be in a plastic bag during security check. You can get small containers for your shampoo, shower gel and creams and other liquids what you might need. When you are travelling with only one bag you can save a lot of time as you won't have to wait for your bag after you landed, also it could be tricky to take all your favorite clothes with you for a weekend getaway. So pack wisely and only take the necessary pieces of clothes with you.

Even when you have a checked in suitcase, you should take a backpack or a small rolling bag (the size has to meet the requirements) on board. Pack all your travel documents, money, camera, and phone as well as a good book, some magazines or papers, crosswords and puzzles with pens in the carry on bag. Take all the valuable items on board with you. Always take a jumper or long sleeved top as the air could be chilly on the aircraft. After security check you can buy a bottle of water for your journey. Cheap airlines, especially the ones flying in Europe to the popular holiday destinations only offer pricey food and drinks on board, so you should take some light food and snacks with you. Even if you are traveling with a big airline you might want to have your own food as flight food is not always the tastiest one and you have to count on the possibility of delays.

Make sure you take some items to entertain you so as books, travel board games, Mp3 player and anything else which can make your journey more pleasant.
