You can fish for salmon in fresh water that is river or lake water or water that are not sea or ocean. You can also fish for salmon in saltwater otherwise called seawater or the ocean. Distinct techniques are required in both places because of the unique water conditions and their contribution to the life of the salmon.

This would make a caricature of the natural wriggling motion of a worm or food item moving with the streams current.

Use the right approach in shallow waters.

Note that in shallow waters fishes are enabled to see all that is happening above water and hence subtlety and the wits are required here. Make use of the water current and introduce a smaller lure. You may also try the small shrimp bait option in case your lures are ignored. Another alternative is fly fishing which is highly recommendable for shallow water fishing.

Use the right approach in deep waters.

Place is usually given to multiple fishing options in high water conditions more than the low waters. Make the river banks your target especially if the water has a strong current. Fishes have the tendency to move towards the area of high current. Use a very inviting bait here and in case the water has lots of sediments, be assured you are going to get some catch. When there are no fast current in deep waters it is preferable to use lures. You can also row into the middle of the water for a catch if there is an assurance of safety. By so doing, you can maximize your catch potential.

Have the necessary material

Finally; some basic things are required in the area of fishing gear. You should have the appropriate fishing pole, fishing line, fishing weights to match the fishing line. You must also select the fishing gear that is considered right for the type of water body in which you are fishing in as well as specific to the specie of salmon that you choose to fish for. You can prepare to fish for heavier salmon using 8.5 foot pole which allows casting and other fishing method. Choose a pole with 20-lb rating which can with stand medium to heavy action
