Facebook, the social networking site, is a Internet site enjoyed by folks of all ages. Not only can one keep in contact with a community of friends and family, one can also maintain a farmstead. There are a number of games on Facebook to play, but one of the favorite is Farmville. It is easy to navigate and doesn't require a vast amount of computer skills to play successfully.
To began the game, a farm of a given size is issued to the player along with a start-up fund. The owner of the farm is able to design the cartoon character which will work the farm. This is a fun part of the game since one can make the character resemble themselves or make them the very opposite of themselves. The freedom is all their own.
There are a number of different animals, trees, seeds, and decorations to purchase to make the farm grow and earn money. The harder one works at the farm, the higher up in skill points the farmer goes and the more money one earns from selling crops and the products produces from the various animals. Some of the seeds, trees, and other items can be purchased with the coins, while others have to be purchased with farmville level green backs. This type of currency is harder to come by. It is gained by buying and selling crops, animals, equipment and buildings.
It is interesting, the type of products the various animals produce. There is absolutely no animal consumption. Pigs produce truffles, cows produce milk, chickens eggs, and sheep wool. Horses give hair, rabbits angora wool, a goose produces down, and goats milk.
As one advances in experience, one becomes eligible to purchase larger farms, different commodities, and different types of seeds to plant so the game is always different. It is never boring, but is very addicting. Some crops will mature in a few hours, while some take days to be ready to harvest. Those crops which aren't harvested in a timely manner wilt in the field. A devoted player never wants that to happen since it is a waste of coins and a loss in advancement.
One of the most intriguing elements in this computer game is the design freedom one has to design and change the look of ones farm and then to photograph the farm and post the pictures on their Facebook home page so others can see what a wonderful farmer they are. There are ribbons to win as one advances by owning so many animals, adopting other's wandering sheep and cows, having so many different kinds of trees to bare fruit, and on and on.
