From mid-June to mid-July is the spawning season for the Black Crappie. These are not game fish rather they are pan fish. They put up quite a fight, and taste good breaded and fried. The best way to catch them is with a spinning rod, a inch and a half bobber and a small feathered jig. Put your bobber onto the fishing line, and three feet below the bobber place your jig. A yellow jig for sunny days, and a black jig for cloudy days. Cast this emsamble as far as you can from shore, and just let it set in the water for a few minutes. If you don't get a bite give your line a hard twitch so that the bobber is pulled under water with a loud splashing sound. Take about six turns on your reel then let it set for another few minutes. Just keep repeating this until you have brought your lure close to shore then repeat.
I have actually caught 40 fisn wit 40 casts using hi method. Virtually, I was the only one that was catching any fish. People kept coming up to me, and asking what I was using for bait. My ensamble of the bobber and lure was shown to each of them. Guess what, not a one of them beleived me. You try it and see how it works for you? JAC
