Why do we have problems in life

Webster states that a problem is a question raised for inquiry, consideration, or solution. After evaluating this definition, it is easy to see that we face problems everyday. Common problems may be something like: Why do I have a headache today? Or why didn't she say good morning to me? Obviously these are not the most intense, thought provoking problems that a human being will face throughout a lifetime, but these small occurrences do fit the definition of a problem. Of course the more serious problems might be the diagnosis of cancer or a disease, a terrible accident that changes a person's life pattern for the rest of their being, or the crossroad of whether to lie to your when you know something they do not. These would be considered the tougher more challenging problems that occur through every human being's life. The question is, why?

This inquiry would probably produce ten different remarks if it were presented to ten different people. What we all know is that no one will go through life without facing problems and some hurt us more than others. Some doctors might suggest that it is the way each person's brain is made, or psychiatrists may say that some humans have a chemical imbalance that needs to be treated by medication. These are some valid points but are they the only possibilities?

I think that the human race faces problems because we are like no life form because we have something called emotions. Emotions are what drive our mood from the happiness and excited levels, to the isolated and depressing levels. Consider life without emotions. Now consider that you have lost a very close friend due to a car wreck. Do you think that you would mourn because of the loss without the presence of emotion? What connects you with people? Usually a friend or spouse would say that they were connected to each other because of some kind of emotional connection, whether it is common backgrounds or something as simple as attraction to one another, people interact with one another by using their emotions.

In my opinion we really need to specify problems into two different fields. Let's face it some problems that we experience have solutions. For example if one is suffering from symptoms of an ear infection, most people would label this as a problem. When that same person goes to the doctor and gets prescribed an antibiotic then the problem is solved. Then there are the circumstances with no answer which according to Webster is a problem. These might include babies born with a mental illness, there might be methods that can help this child make it through the race of life but there is no answer to his/her deficiency. So remember a true problem exists when a conclusion can not be found. This fact alone erases many of the problems that we as the human race should label as life experiences.
