A Handful of Handprint Turkeys for Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving holiday crafts can bring adults and children of all ages together for artistic fun. Preschools, kindergartens, elementary school classes and Sunday schools may enjoy creating Thanksgiving turkey crafts as well.
Try these three variations on the traditional handprint turkey for Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving turkey single handprint
This handprint turkey craft is the simplest of all, creating the profile of a Thanksgiving turkey from a single traced handprint.
Gather these materials:
One sheet of white or tan construction paper or cardstock
Pencil
Crayons or markers
Place a sheet of paper on a counter or flat surface. Trace the outline of one flat hand (with fingers separated) in pencil. Outline and color the hand with crayons or markers. For added Thanksgiving turkey feather flair, color each of the four fingers in a different color (such as red, orange, yellow and brown).
Draw the turkey's waddle (under the thumb portion). Add eyes and a beak to complete the Thanksgiving turkey's head.
Thanksgiving turkey handprint cut-out
This Thanksgiving turkey handprint craft is slightly more complex, but still quite easy and fun to create.
Gather these materials:
One sheet of yellow construction paper or cardstock
One sheet of orange construction paper or cardstock
One sheet of red construction paper or cardstock
One sheet of brown construction paper or cardstock
One sheet of plain or autumn-colored construction paper or cardstock (your choice)
Two googly craft eyes
Pencil
Scissors
Glue or glue stick
Trace the outline of one flat hand (with fingers separated) in pencil on the yellow sheet of paper. Use a pair of scissors to cut out the hand shape.
Repeat this tracing and cutting process with the orange and red sheets of paper as well.
Cut two circles from the brown sheet of paper, making one about 2" in diameter and the other about 4" in diameter.
Place a plain sheet of paper on a counter or flat surface. Stack the yellow, orange and red handprint cut-outs on the paper, staggering them atop one another to form graduated turkey feathers. Glue all three colored handprints in place on the plain sheet of paper.
Glue the large brown circle at the base of the stacked handprints, forming the Thanksgiving turkey's body. Glue the smaller circle on top to make the turkey's head.
Snip two small ovals from the leftover red paper to make the turkey's waddle, and glue these at the bottom of the small brown circle (hanging off
