Unrequited
she calls him, the tart!
sometimes all day long incessantly
to run away with her
just give up
leave it with you all
and tomorrow
a mad obsession and a love affair
offering peace and a final escape
from the wheel,
from time, and a
doomed and miserable existence
or one more day
her voice is cool
gentle deception
always he answers
to sweet talk her in
the silent secret night
but the temptation never gives way
to the deed
be it strength or cowardice
is of little note and ill-defined
on the other end of the line
she sighs sweetly
eternally patient.
