Early fatherhood is nothing to fear. A father is a father no matter what the age. While it is true that there can be many pros and cons to early fatherhood, each person will react differently to this situation. Of course, if the fatherhood at an early age is planned or unplanned will have the largest impact and potential consequences.
Becoming a father is a lifelong job, and must be embraced fully in order to truly relish and thrive in the role of responsible parent.
Potential consequences of early fatherhood may involve detrimental hazards such as the father leaving, or just plain being unprepared for the responsibilities associated with parenting. If a pending parenthood is causing a person to judge whether or not they are ready to be a parent, they have a lot of work to do in order to become ready.
When trying to assess the consequences of early fatherhood, it is imperative to realize whether or not the early fatherhood is based on physical age, or emotional maturity. Many young men are wonderful fathers, and are more than capable at being great role models and live a fulfilled life.
Some men, whose emotional maturity has not come to fruition may be a poor father, even though they may have reached an age deemed acceptable in society to become a father.
Entering fatherhood at an early age can be detrimental, if the man is not truly ready, willing, and able. Being ill-prepared for the lifelong changes that fatherhood brings with it is unacceptable. The child will suffer terribly if an early father is not up to the challenges.
A child that does not have a positive role model will have a tougher time adjusting in many situations, and may suffer from a diminished self-esteem.
Early fatherhood is fraught with peril. There are many consequences to early fatherhood, and this needs to be taught to young men everywhere. Becoming a parent at a young age is often done as a mistake, and the consequences are irreparable. As a result of early fatherhood, a man's life is altered.
He may be forced to put his education on hold, take a job that he dislikes in order to pay the bills, or abandon his responsibility as a parent.
On the other hand, some of the consequences of early fatherhood might be more energy to play, being around long enough to see your grandchildren marry, and to still be working when your children are pursuing post-secondary education. Consequence does not have to be a word with negative connotations, but it typically is seen in that regard.
