Barefoot and Mostly Naked
He sits at the edge of a dark
Lonely place
Wondering if a soul
In this world is
Thinking of him
Worries over him
Or Cares
He figures
Not so much, and
It is only reasonable
Fair and just
That this is the
Way it should be.
Nighttime comes
Mercury
Moonrise
Venus, then Mars
Now the other two-
Jupiter and Saturn
It is late September and
He is overwhelmed.
Three weeks
On the bathroom floor
And crying.
Still,
He has no right
To complain.

Man gone out, feet first,
