Huntsville's night life is packed full of places to enjoy live music. Whether you enjoy rock, country, hip hop, or jazz there is a place for everyone. Keep in mind though, most places that host live music do charge a cover to help pay the band. Some places don't charge cover. In most cases it depends on the band and the establishment.
There are so many other places around town that have great live music but these should get you started. Many bands play a variety of places and have fans that follow from location to location.
Located at 2616 North Memorial Parkway, Whiskey's is considered Huntsville's House of Rock. Some of the bands that frequent this place include Angry Native, 40oz. Located at 9009 South Memorial Parkway, Sport's Page is always host to a variety of bands in various genres. It is a cozy place with dart boards in the back. Many local bands play here frequently. Crossroads is known for the musical talents that come through this club. Some big name performers include Buckethead (formerly with Guns n Roses), That 1 Guy, Daikaiju, ReHab, and many others. Sammy T's is located at 116 Washington Street. They are always packed with patrons. This is because they always have something going on Thursday through Friday. They have had local bands paying tribute to their favorite bands, local DJ spinning as well as special appearances by Vanilla Ice and even the Chippendales. Humphrey's is another great place to kick back with friends, enjoy some great food, and music. Each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday they are host to some of the more popular local bands outside in the courtyard. Some of these acts include Microwave Dave, Black Eyed Susan, and Kosmic Mamma.
