In "Always Enough: God's Miraculous Provision Among the Poorest Children on Earth," Rolland and Heidi Baker share their experiences about how they came to be full time missionaries in one of the poorest nations in the world, Mozambique. Rolland comes from a family of missionaries and grew up in Asia. Heidi was radically saved as a teenager and has been in ministry every since. Both Rolland and Heidi are highly educated individuals both holding doctorate degrees. They spent time in other nations before venturing to the eastern shore of Africa.
During part of the book they explain how when the floods come into parts of Mozambique whole villages can be wiped out. People die from the water and the starvation that follows. Rolland and Heidi along with other missionaries go into the flooded areas to rescue and feed those affected.
They also tell the readers about the various children's homes and churches they have started all over the nation of Mozambique and neighboring nations. They clothe and feed thousands of people every day, many of them children who are without earthly parents or who are sick from famine or disease.
In the pages of this book you will read about the trials of living in a war torn nation with little natural resources, and the love they have for the people there. You will read of times when they have been persecuted for spreading the Gospel in a part of the world that has a high Muslim population. You will also read about miracles of protection and provision. This book has the possibility of changing your perspective as you read it. The overriding message is that God will provide in any area of life where you have need. The people in Africa believe this and see provision where there does not appear to be any.
In some parts of the book you can read about individual lives that have been changed by the ministry of Rolland and Heidi and their staff. When you read about the hurt and pain just one of these people have endured it brings the plight of the nation closer to home.
I recommend this book to anyone interested in mission work overseas or even anyone interested in helping through prayer or finances. You will see in the pages of this book how there are real missionaries in the world today making differences in the lives of people in some of the most remote and poorest locations on the planet.
