With several banking options available in Huntsville, Alabama choosing the right bank can sometimes be overwhelming. These days everyone is trying hard to save money in this economy and finding a bank that suits your needs is crucial. Each bank offers different types of accounts, savings, and investment plans with different interest rates. It is best to visit each branch and talk with a financial advisor before choosing which bank is right for you and your family.
In the Huntsville area, this bank is a favorite for most residents. To open an account you will first need to open a savings account with a minimum of $7. You have to keep a minimum of $5 in the account at all times. Once you have a savings you can look into free checking, Christmas club accounts, and so much more. There are locations all over town, so this makes Redstone Federal Credit Union the most convenient bank in town.
Wachovia is owned by Wells Fargo and is another leading bank in the Huntsville area. It takes a minimum of $100 to open an account with no minimum balance on most checking accounts. Wachovia also has locations scattered across town. There are also ATM machines for Wachovia on almost every corner, especially at convenient stores. Therefore accessing your money is easy and convenient without the worries of extra charges.
Regions Bank is the third most popular bank in town. Just like Wachovia it takes $100 to open an account but watch out for the checking accounts that charge a monthly fee. There are several bank locations in town, but not as many as there used to be. There are more ATM locations than there are banks. In fact, many Wal-mart stores have Regions Bank ATMs.
RBC Bank is fairly new to town. In fact, they are a Canadian bank. It has only been here for about three years. They have six checking accounts available, two of which are considered free checking accounts. There are only five locations to serve you. ATM machines are fleeting but there are a few aside from the bank locations.
Colonial Bank has seven checking account options available. Two of these are free checking with no monthly fee. They also have only five locations in town but there are more ATM machines compared to RBC Bank. Colonial Bank has locations all over Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida so it makes vacationing in the south much easier.
