Whether you are attending an afternoon tea, a dinner party, or a seasonal celebration at a neighbors home, it is always nice to take along a gift to present to the hostess of the event. There are an amazingly large array of wonderful homemade hostess gift ideas that you can choose from.

If you are a creative person than you can often quickly and easily design a homemade gift for your hostess. If you are not that adventurous, then there are a number of places where you can go to purchase beautiful homemade items.

Etsy.com is an Online shopping mall that features crafters and the crafts that they create. You can also cruise craft fairs, teas and bazaars when they are held in your local area.

From handmade clocks, wooden coasters, or bowls spun on a potters wheel the list of gift ideas is endless. There are organic creams and lotions mixed together at home. Genuine goats milk soap, shampoo and bath lotion to add a little pampering for those who need it. Bath salts and aromatherapy oils and candles to help the hostess relax after the evenings event. Ceramic tea sets and wooden salad bowls to accent her table.

Hand crocheted doilies make wonderful hostess gifts. They generally do not take a lot of time to create and are also usually not all that expensive to purchase. Other beautiful crocheted hostess gifts are doilies to line bread baskets, dresser scarves, or lacy handkerchiefs with crocheted borders. Dish cloths can be knitted or crocheted from cotton thread. From a sewing machine can be quickly made a hostess apron, or a set of matching place mats, pot holders, or designer tea towels.

Beaded or leather jewelery can be easily designed in a relatively short period of time. While scented candles or soaps, homemade potpourri, or bath salts are usually well received gifts. A beautiful handcrafted recipe or jewerly box can be absolutely charming. While hand made recipe books or cloth bound photo albums can be very unique hostess gifts to give. Metal baskets filled with fruit or nuts make a delightful hostess gift.

Of course there is one standard homemade gift that always goes over well and that is a gift from the kitchen. Homemade bread, cookies, cake, chocolates, biscuits or bars are always readily accepted at the door. This gift is one that insures that your hostess won't have to work quite so hard at her current event, and a helping hand is always a gift that is appreciated.
