Before you start searching the Internet aimlessly for a game to play to take up a few minutes of time you need to know what it is that you are looking for. Do you want a compilation of free flash games? Or maybe you are looking for an MMORPG you can get hooked on without paying a cent. Perhaps you just want a chance to play with another person. Whatever it is that you are looking for the Internet is there to help.
Everyone likes a good flash game from time to time but with the sheer number of games and number of viruses out there it can be hard to find what you are looking for. One of my personal favorites is Newgrounds because they require registration before you can play, have moderators to review comments and games, and a wonderful rating system which can, if used correctly, serve as a guide to which games might be correct for children. If you want a slightly more varied selection of games you can try pages like Kongregate. At Kongregate the focus is on providing you with a slew of fun and often times challenging games. Functions like a rating system and again moderators make this a safe and appealing website for everyone.
If flash games aren't your style and you are looking for something more like an MMORPG the Internet is there for you. With websites like OpenRPG and Free MMORPG lair you can always find something. Unfortunately most of these games require large downloads and clients before you can play them. It can be more of a challenge than it's worth to download a game and find out you don't like it. This is where browser based games come in. Games like Runescape and Free Realms provide an expansive world for a very small or non-existent price all while running in your browser. Finally if you want a game that you can play for a few minutes everyday you should look for a text based game. These are websites that you visit everyday to take care of a little business and then log off again. They sound small but they can be very immersive.
Whatever it is that you are looking for the internet has you covered one way or another. I hope you enjoyed reading this and I hope I convinced you to go out and see what the internet has in store for you.
