I love the night.
A Rich ebony cloak entwines the sky in its embrace,
and deep silence echoes through the world.
Warmth retreats from the streets
into our cosy cubby holes,
while fresh snappy chills nose through the air outside.
Up up to the glinting smiles,
flashes of twinkling fires
scattered across the river of blackness.
Round bulging eyes emerge
from holes in the ground,
to root through the earthy soil
during midnight hour.
I gaze out upon the mysteries of darkness
drinking in the elegance,
my mind drifting to distant places
and I smile.
Oh I do love the night.
