It is not difficult to diagnose the signs of a dog with a stomach ache in fact it can become very visible if they start throwing up or is struck with diarrhea. Your dog will show signs of discomfort but the biggest problem is trying to diagnose what is causing the upset. Dog's stomachs can easily be upset for many reasons and there is a big umbrella in which these reasons lie; your part in this is trying to figure out what the underlying problem is.
Signs of upset stomach
Your dog can present symptoms such as becoming very restless where he can't lie down in one place for an extended period of time. He will seek the coldest spot in your home to rest if he can and probably lie on his belly for relief. He may drool from the mouth excessively and vomiting will usually follow. The reasons for his upset stomach can be as simple as a too rich diet to food poisoning with many reasons in between.
Poisoning
Poisoning in dogs usually presents diarrhea and vomiting. If you can, get him to a vet immediately. You can roll up a ball of damp washing soda and force it down his throat. This might seem like a harsh remedy but it could mean your dog's life. The soap will help absorb the poison that remains in your dog's stomach. If you suspect poisoning don't delay taking your dog to a vet immediately.
Perhaps this is the most common poisoning of all and your dog will present signs in throwing up and diarrhea. If your dog starts to pace or circle and is drooling from the mouth it is good signs that there is something that's in his tummy that's not sitting there very well. If you suspect food poisoning your dog should see a vet as soon as possible so he can determine what type of poisoning your dog has ingested.
Colic
Your dog may be suffering from something as simple as colic but that doesn't make the symptoms any less painful. The sign your dog may have colic will present symptoms from this ailment such as whimpering due to the level of pain he is in. You can help your dog by giving him bicarbonate of soda mixed with a teaspoonful of milk. A half teaspoonful of brandy can be added to this mixture to ease the pain and help settle his stomach. Massaging his stomach will help the pain.
Ingesting foreign bodies
Some dogs are noted for eating anything they can get their mouths on from toys to cushions. This can cause big problems for your dog as the objects can get in the intestines and cause a blockage. The major sign that your dog has swallowed a foreign object is
