scars are the tattoo's that are ours,
memento's our bodies keep,
all of them earned at a permanent price,
none of them cheep,
whether from a falling bike,
missing a landing from a leap,
the scar is what comes when you recover from the thing that cut you so deep,
it is not to say that we don't have scars the come to us in our sleep,
or scars in the mind that we force ourselves to keep,
scars are part of our story,
it tells tells us that this is what happens when life cuts two deep.
