Acai Berry Scams
Weight is the thing that most people want to lose, unfortunately is something that is hard to do and requires time and a lot of hard work. Losing weight is important to people for so many reasons and this much generalized desire has become almost an obsession. This obsession has then translated into a scam of really big proportions.
First of all, is necessary to understand, that even though, the acai berry has certain health benefits (as many berries do) is not a miracle berry that will make you shed pounds of your body just because that's what you want.
The acai berry scams have two levels.
1) They are offering a product that not only has not been really tested, but also, is not approved by the FDA and no one seems to be regulating it. Many people who had fallen victims of these scams have indicated that not only these products do not work, but that they have also made them sick. The consumer is ingesting something they are not aware of its contents. Yes there is a list of contents in the bottle, but how accurate and how safe those are really not known. Besides, as with any other medication, previous illnesses and personal health conditions need to be taken in consideration before starting any kind of product.
2) The type of marketing for these products force the costumer to go online to a website to order the product, a free trial that the requires to pay for the shipping and handling. The problem here is that you are not only putting your personal information to get the free trial, but also your bank account or credit card information as well. This means that the information can be sold to other predator companies or identity thieves and also that you are enrolling yourself on a monthly program. The customer supposed to be able to call and cancel, but they only discover that they are calling to a number that either is never answer or that even in the even they get to talk to someone, the people that they get to speak with ask for more personal information (with the excuse that they need to identify you) or just give you false information, by telling you that they can not find you in the system, that the will cancel but they never do or simply that they will but after you pay the latest shipment.
