Is drinking a sin for Christians?

Drinking is not quite a sin. In fact, when it is done in Christian religion a person is supposed to imagine that they are drinking Christ's own blood in order to be purified by the act. This way the drinker is forgiven for they are guzzling on an emblem which Christ issued to the Christian order.

However saying this Christianity condones gluttony. Gluttony in the world of Christendom is actually considered irresponsible, and un-Christian. It makes the person more of a beast in the eyes of a Christian, and thus closer to the devil which Christendom fights in order to be one with the God's who rule the Christian religion. So drinking in excess is strictly prohibited. It is a 'no' stamped in red highlight. It is the lowest point on an act which could have once been considered wholesome. It is the pornographic mode of eating, which many disdain.

Christian drink used to be in the form of apple-ale, or grape juice (sometimes fermented), or grape juice and hops. It is the softer side of what alcohol has turned into. This makes it a little less sinful in itself, and thus a lot more less to effect the senses. Yes, the good old fashioned drink might have put a little rouge on the cheeks, and a little fill inside of the bellies however it did not often get the average person out of control of their emotions or behaviours. So when Christ was talking about drink, he was allowing the softer side of alcohol that once existed in the early days of humanity long ago, rather then the kind which is permitted in today's society.

However words are words, and oaths are oaths. When Christ let in permission for all to drink, and think of drinking his blood in order to be free of sin then that is exactly what one is meant to do when they are giving toast and swallowing their drink.

Jesus's words on drink:

My blood is true drink. I say to you, those who choose to eat my flesh and drink my blood with have only eternal life. I will raise you as my brothers on the last day.

I say to you, that unless you eat the flesh on the Son of Man, and drink his blood - you will have not a drop of life inside of you.

Those who drink my blood stand by me, and I stand by them.

Come to me and drink, from within me living waters shall flow.
