Kingdom Hearts II for the PlayStation 2 is the sequel to Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories for the PlayStation 2. In the previous Kingdom Hearts series on the Playstation 2, Sora, the hero of the story, has been separated from his two best friends, Riku and Kairi, when a storm came to their island. Ever since, Sora has been looking for Riku and Kairi throughout many worlds with the help of Goofy, the head of Disney Castle's Royal Knights, and Donald, a wizard of the castle and Daisy's special sweetheart. In Kingdom Hearts, Sora was chosen by the keyblade to fight the heartless in many worlds, and has been ever since.
At the start of Kingdom Hearts II you play as Roxas in Twilight Town while Sora, Donald, and Goofy's memories are being restored to their proper state from Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories. The game has many new improvements from the first Kingdom Hearts, including the Right Analog Stick for camera adjustments, Reaction commands using the triangle button, new worlds, characters, abilities, and many more needed improvements. The game introduces the Drive form, which allows you to duel wield keyblades and perform special abilities. All in all, the best improvement from the original Kingdom Hearts has been the reaction commands, which allows you to use the triangle button to preform special stunts in battle, talk to people, save, and open chests rather than in the first Kingdom Hearts, where you had to use the directional arrows to get to the right command, which was real frustrating when trying to survive in battle.
As you play through the game, you will realize that there is a new type of enemy, known as the Nobody's, because they have no hearts. Organization XIII an organization made up of 13 Nobodys, that have an overall goal to have hearts, and therefore they are searching for Kingdom Hearts. By the end of the game, Sora and the others have practically reduced their numbers to half.
Overall, Square Enix and Disney Interactive have put multiple improvements into Kingdom Hearts II since the first Kingdom Hearts, and it is by far the best game of its series. In the future, more games of the Kingdom Hearts title will be released, and it will take a lot of effort and creativity to better the overall well made game by Square Enix and Disney Interactive. Well done!
