The best communities for families to live in Oklahoma

Not sure where to live in Oklahoma? You have a lot of great options in the Sooner State, but there are a few that are better than the others. However, no matter where you decide your family should live in Oklahoma, you are sure to find great schools, low crime rates and unemployment that is lower than most areas of the country.

Top of the list of best communities to live in Oklahoma is

Moore, a suburb of Oklahoma City. Just moments south of downtown Oklahoma City, Moore is an ideal location for families. It is home to one of the best school districts in the state. With lots of city parks and recreational activities for families Moore is an excellent option for families. The cost of living is relatively low. You have the option of suburban life or a more country setting should you move either east or west of the downtown Moore area. Many families choose to commute to Oklahoma City for their jobs, but that commute is simple. Highways criss-cross Oklahoma City, making it easy to get anywhere in the metro area.

Norman is another excellent option. The cost of living is a bit higher then Oklahoma City, but it offers a more rural area. The schools in Norman are excellent and the crime rate is low. Jobs are readily available to those willing to work. It is home to Lake Thunderbird and the University of Oklahoma so families living in Norman never want for outdoor activities or the cultural experiences of college theater, art exhibits and the like.

The Tri-City area of Tuttle, Blanchard and Newcastle are excellent rural options. With Oklahoma City, Moore and Norman just minutes away, it is an easy commute for those working in the Greater Oklahoma City Metro Area. Class sizes are much smaller, affording the students more one-on-one time with teachers. Housing costs are a bit higher due to it's rural location and rental property can be difficult to find. However, it is one of the best places to build a new home.

Guthrie, Oklahoma's first capital, is also a great option for families wanting to live in Oklahoma. Rich in history, there are plenty of museums for the family to enjoy. Less than an hour from Oklahoma City, many choose to commute for work. Many choose to commute to Stillwater to work at Oklahoma State University. The schools are good, with small class sizes. Crime is almost non-existent as in unemployment.

Whether you are looking for city life or a rural community, Oklahoma has much to offer its residents with families. Jobs are easy to find for those willing to work and the schools are some of the best in the country. The crime rates are low, making Oklahoma a safe option. All you have to do is decide if the city or country is right for you and your family.
