Times have changed in America and in the medical field. Americans pay taxes for schools, new roads, and police officers etc. In the constitution it states, The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States. General welfare of the United States implies that government will step in and help us out financially when we need it. A true America should have government assisted healthcare based on facts that government is the reigning authority; therefore, has a responsibility to take care of its people.

It is a fact, people in Canada have universal healthcare that is mostly free for all its citizens. It is also a fact, the United States of America does not have universal healthcare because of a corrupt and unjust system that allows illegal immigrants to abuse and live off the system created by government. Too many Americans work hard for their dollar and have nothing to show for it, but callous hands. Government officials that, we the people elect, represent us and they have bailed out the wrong people.

Minorities, illegal immigrants, and lawbreakers are the ones that get to live off of welfare, grants, and loans-most of which they cannot pay back. According to David DeGrazia, eighteen percent of Americans under the age of sixty-five are not insured based on income. The job market is worse than ever before and blame belongs to our leaders in Washington. A national concern for healthcare is a big problem, but it averts our eyes from more troubling matters. Terrorism, teen pregnancy, murder, rape, is more important dilemmas than a rising concern for healthcare. It is important and should not be disregarded by any means.

Law abiding citizens in the United States are the ones that pay for the crimes committed by corporate America. American citizens that already have healthcare deserve better healthcare because of what this country was founded upon. Our founding fathers envisioned a nation that all men were created equal. How are we equal when our rights are becoming more and scarcer every day? Unalienable rights are our basic human rights and cannot be taken away from by anyone or anything. Freedom is a pursuit that service men and women give their lives for. Our basic human rights are infringed upon when government steps in and makes it nearly impossible for Americans to pay for their hospital bills.

Some people do have subsidies and are granted some financial support. These subsidies such as grants, loans, and welfare should go towards paying the necessities. Hospital bills, groceries, and car insurance are some necessities to name a few. We all see people that are paying for cigarettes, but do not have enough for their medical bills. These are the people that do not deserve the unalienable rights that true Americans have fought for in the past.

Government is based on regulating standards and laws that are followed that protects the people in which it governs. America has become morally bankrupt due to the rising medical costs and not enough Americans helping with a solution. This country was founded on the ideas of men who were thought to be committing treason. A true America would not leave its citizens unprotected, in poverty, homeless, or dying just to pay their bills. Recently, government has been promising a healthcare reform for all Americans, but it will remain to be seen.
