Brook jumped off the bus and headed up the driveway to her house. Her mom was going to be out today doing some shopping so Brook was going to be home for a few hours on her own. No big deal for Brook she was 14 years old so she was more than comfortable being home alone.
Brook unlocked the door and stepped in the house. "Frizz!" she yelled.
Frizz was her white Persian cat that she had since he was a kitten. He had really frizzy hair so it was an easy choice for her to choose his name.
Frizz jumped down from the couch and curled around her legs. "Hey Frizz how was your day?" he asked and continued the conversation "Let's check Facebook."
Brook turned on her laptop like she did every other day after school. She wanted to see what funny things her friends had to say on facebook and how many new friends' requests she had. Brook was in a contest with her BFF Jamie to see who could get the most friends, nothing was to be won but it was fun non-the-less.
She noticed today that she had a message in her inbox. "I wonder who sent me a note." she thought.
It was a message from Coltin, a boy from school that she didn't know that well but she did know he liked to play pranks on people at school. The subject read "Someone is going to die!"
Brook wasn't for sure what to make of the subject and didn't know if she wanted to open the message but she did. As the message downloaded a picture came up, Brook screamed and slammed her laptop shut.
"That can't be right. Why would Coltin send a picture to me like that!" she said with a shaky voice. She had to look again to confirm what she saw because something wasn't making since.
Brook slowly opened her laptop again as if she were peaking into a box with a snake in it. The message was still on the screen. She took a long look at the nightmarish photo. It was a boy crossing the street on his bike getting run over by a jeep. She realized that the boy was Coltin and then gave out a deep breath and thought that he had really pulled a good prank this time. She also noticed a second picture but it was blurry, it looked like a truck was coming at the person taking the picture but she couldn't quite make it out. She was mad but relieved and couldn't wait to tell Jamie how freaky the prank was and talk about how weird Coltin was.
Brook went to her home page to leave a status note. She saw a posting on her wall that read "R.I.P. COLTIN" posted by Coltin himself. Brook got really scared.
"This prank wasn't funny. How could he send me a
