Poetry: Pretending

by Tiffany Miller

Created on: September 20, 2009

Pretending
The dreams we dream
May never really be so
Though, the stars is where we belong
We may never go

I can make believe I love you
You can make believe you love me too
We can love like Romeo and Juliet
Forbidden desire through and through

I'll masquarade around
And dance on my toes
You make me the quen of the world
And I'll turn up my nose

You can hold me in your arms
And I'll close my eyes
In a crowded room, we are alone
Though, clearly we hear the sighs

But sitting here at the university
In theatre watching Show Boat
I'm just day dreaming again
Instead of taking notes

You're my Romeo my Gaylord Revenal
Though, reality says you're no more than a friend
Unless you want to make my dreams come true
But if not, I don't mind if we just pretend
